RBDS AI Lab

RBDS | Dharwad

Of place.
Of material.
Of time.

An architecture and interiors practice based in Dharwad. A decade of built work across residential, hospitality, and commercial — held to the same standard regardless of scale.

AI-augmented, research-led practice

We are
RBDS.

Red Brick Design Studio is an architecture and interiors practice based in Dharwad, founded in 2013 and led by architect Sahil Tanveer and interior designer Swapna Neogi. The studio works across homes, farmhouses, hospitality interiors, restaurants, workspaces, retail environments, and unbuilt studies — but its real interest is not typology. It is how a place is held by climate, material, memory, light, movement, and the people who will eventually live inside it.

We do not begin with style. We begin with the site. A room, a wall, a courtyard, a roof, a pool, a piece of furniture, or a threshold is treated as part of a larger spatial argument. Sahil brings the architectural discipline of plan, section, construction, research, and narrative. Swapna brings the interior discipline of scale, surface, tactility, furniture, fabric, and atmosphere. Between the two, RBDS works as a practice of architecture and interior thinking, not decoration.

The Lab sits beside the studio as a research and visual-thinking arm. It sharpens studies, tests narratives, and accelerates visual exploration, but the authorship remains architectural. For us, a project is still measured by quieter questions: can the plan be lived in, can the material age, can the room breathe, can the building remain useful after the first photograph has gone silent?

About the founders

An architect and an interior designer.
Partners in practice, partners in life.

Ar. Sahil Tanveer — founder of RBDS
Swapna Neogi — co-founder, RBDS

Ar. Sahil Tanveer

Architect, author, educator.

Architect, author, and educator, Sahil Tanveer works between built practice, AI research, and public teaching. As founder of RBDS and RBDS AI Lab, he uses advanced workflows to test architectural ideas against site, material, narrative, and decision-making rather than as shortcuts to finished images. His work spans residential and hospitality projects, research, writing, and more than fifty invited talks across India and abroad.

Author of books and teaching material on AI for architects, Sahil has helped designers read the technology as a design lens, not a replacement for judgement. His AI documentary The Atavism of an Old Ideal screened at the International Film Festival of Larissa in Greece. His public work sits in the same territory as his buildings: questions first, tools second.

Swapna Neogi

Interior designer, partner in practice.

With over two decades of experience, Swapna Neogi brings the interior discipline of RBDS into focus: proportion, surface, furniture, fabric, and the lived scale of a room. Born in Zambia and educated in Kolkata, she has worked across South Africa and Asia, carrying a wide cultural memory into a practice that remains precise about daily use.

Swapna specialises in residential and hospitality interiors where material choice is inseparable from comfort, maintenance, and atmosphere. Her work is detailed without becoming ornamental, warm without becoming decorative, and grounded in nature without relying on theme. She gives the studio its close reading of how a space is touched, occupied, and remembered.

Selected Built Work

A working selection across the studio's range — residential, hospitality, commercial, and concept-led work. Architecture and interiors held to the same standard, regardless of scale.

Lab × Practice

Applied
Intelligence in
Practice.

The Lab's research informs how the practice works — concept studies, visualisation strategies, prompt-driven investigation, parametric constraints, climate analysis, narrative development.

We do not over-claim. Generative tools are calibrated and directed; they sit alongside drawings, models, and material decisions. Authorship stays with the architect and interior designer.

Every research idea is tested against site, climate, material, budget, and the client who has to live with the result. That is what keeps the Lab honest.

In their words

What clients
say about us.

Sahil and Swapna from Red Brick Design Studio are a perfect combination of innovation, modern design, dedication, emotion, and team work as a design team. Their sync and passion about a project makes them an integral part. They divide their responsibility perfectly, and as a client you tend to respond quickly, which in turn helps the project finish faster than usual. Swapna has worked with us earlier on two projects and her eye for detail is something that inspires us to re-hire them for future projects. They are a great team — as an architect and an interior designer, and as a couple in married life. We at Alka Group want to thank them for designing Villa Habu and wish them all the success in their future endeavours.
